Restaurant Review: Swanya Thai Cuisine

6 05 2009

swanya

There was a new restaurant opened in Culver City, the name of the restaurant is Swanya. It was opened next to the Swanya Thai Massage, and judging from the name, I think they are both under the same owner or management. The restaurant wasn’t really big, just a moderate size. The menu was double sided and laminated. They have only 1 waitress who wasn’t too friendly. Read the rest of this entry »

Still in the spirit of finding the good Vietnamese food nearby our area, in early January, we decided to try Pho Show in Culver City. This restaurant was newly opened and located right in front of a traffic light. Read the rest of this entry »

Restaurant Review: Sizzler

6 02 2009

sizzlerThis past Christmas, we decided to celebrate it at Sizzler, the same place where we celebrated our previous year’s Christmas day. The reason being, there weren’t much restaurants open on Christmas day. :P Right after we had our Christmas’ mass, we went directly to the nearby Sizzler. The parking lot wasn’t full but inside the restaurant was half full. Read the rest of this entry »

Restaurant Review: Thai Original BBQ

25 06 2008

Last Saturday, after our regular evening mass, we decided to try Thai Original BBQ which is only a block away from our church. We tried this restaurant before in Jakarta and found that the BBQ Chicken was pretty good. As I remembered, the price in Jakarta compared to the other Thai restaurant was more expensive. Restaurant Review: California Roll & Sushi

23 03 2008

During our apartments hunting period, we stayed at a hotel in Culver City. Nearby the hotel, there is a restaurant, California Roll & Sushi that we visited a lot. Not because there isn’t any other restaurants, but because it was the closest one to the hotel we were staying at that time.

Yesterday, we had our dinner there. We ordered Calamari Tempura roll $6.95, Vegetable Tempura Roll $6.25, 5 pieces of Baked Green Mussel $5.5, Scallop Volcano Roll $8.95, Chicken Bowl $6.5. We spent total of $40 including tax and tips. I believe for every $20 you spend, you will get $3 coupon, good for the next minimum purchase of $10.

The restaurant is very small and dark and there is only one waitress who also serves as a cashier. A lot of people would either call or come in for to go orders. You can have a free Miso soup, which I don’t highly recommend, because, you can hardly taste the actual Miso broth. This restaurant is more like a fast food type where they serve the food in plastics plates.

Andrew loves the Chicken bowl with dark meat (I think for a white meat, you will need to add $2 more). Arman loves the Baked Green Mussels and Scallop Volcano Roll. The Vegetable Tempura Roll was just ok, I prefer the Calamari Tempura Roll.

Even though, you will find a lot of bad reviews on this restaurant, I personally think the food is pretty good.

With the $3 coupon, we might come back again in the future.
