Panko Fried Shrimp

Puff…..puff…..this blog is too dusty as it’s been a really long time since my last update. Sorry, folks, I had too much things on my hand. I’ve been busy with my new cakes and cupcakes boutique, Bite ‘N Bite. On top of that, we had my mom who visited us this Summer, and our short trip to San Francisco. But now I am back and today I am going to share with you a new recipe that I did. Here it goes! Crunchy and yummy! :)

INGREDIENTS:

FOR THE SHRIMP: 500 gr of medium size shrimps – peel off the skin, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 pieces of lime, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, vegetable oil for deep frying, 100 gr of all purpose flour, 100 gr of bread crumb, 2 pieces of eggs – beaten

FOR THE DIPPING SAUCE: 4 tablespoons mayonnaise, 2 teaspoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of hot sauce, 1 piece of lime

INSTRUCTIONS:

Soak the shrimps with soy sauce, lime and garlic powder for about 15 minutes. Heat up a pan with vegetable oil for deep frying. Coat each one of the shrimp with all purpose flour first. Dip it to the beaten egg and lastly coat with the bread crumb. Then deep fry until each turn golden. For the sauce, simply mix all the ingredients together. Ready to serve! Enjoy!

Here is another one of my mom’s recipe that I love. Usually she makes it using pork meat, but since we don’t have any pork meat at home, I decided to substitute it with chickens. Turned out, it was really good, reminds me so much of my mom’s cooking. When I made this dish, I have imagined how Andrew will like this dish as well since he loves eggs. Unfortunately, he started having stomach flu yesterday. Get well soon, my dear. I will cook this dish again when you are well. Read the rest of this entry »

Fried Beancurd Roll is one out of our many favorites in the dimsum menu. I remember weeks ago when Arman kept on asking me to try and make one myself, so a few days ago, I decided to experiment. The result was really good, although Arman thought that it was missing the cilantro. If you like to try one yourself, here is the recipe, folks! Read the rest of this entry »

My dear cousin, Jenny, told me about the King Oyster Mushroom a while back. She told me that it tastes really good and very chewy. So I decided to get this giant size mushroom when I went for Asian grocery yesterday. See the picture above, the mushroom is as big as a chicken drumstick. The taste of it is really really good. Thanks, Ci! I am already planning on getting more of this on my next trip to the Asian grocery store. Read the rest of this entry »

Refreshing Cucumber

26 01 2009

During my childhood, every once in a while (especially when we have guests coming from out of town or country), my mom would take us to a restaurant nearby our house that serves the traditional food from her hometown, Medan. The restaurant’s name is Medan Baru. At this restaurant, I remember one type of drink that they serve mainly using cucumber. The drink was very refreshing and I personally think good for sore throat. So today, I made one myself, only this time, I added the glass noodle jelly to make it more festive. Great drink for a hot day. Read the rest of this entry »

Happy New Year, everyone. It’s been a while since my last post. Nowadays, I have to take turn with Andrew in using the laptop. He has learned many new things from the Internet and that left me with a very limited time in front of the computer. In addition, I’ve been sick since Christmas and just got well today.

Anyway, today, I am going to add one recipe to my Soup category. One of Arman’s favorite soup is the Crab Asparagus Soup. I’ve made one last week without an exact measurement. I’ve decided to make this soup again today so I can share the recipe with you. You may use a fresh crab meat if you have one instead of using the can. But if you do like to get practical, I am attaching the picture of the Crab Meat that I use here in this recipe. Read the rest of this entry »

Stir Fry Garlic Stem Beef

9 12 2008

As I was doing my recent Asian groceries at 99 Ranch Market, we came across this bunch of garlic stem. We saw people picking a bunch up and add it into their shopping cart. Out of our curiosity, we decided to get one bunch ourselves. I tried to cook it today with a mix of meat and mushroom and turned out, it was pretty good. The garlic stem itself looks slightly like a scallion/green onion, only that its stem looks more sturdy like asparagus. The smell of it is pretty much like a mild garlic smell. Deep Fried Matato

8 10 2008

A friend of mine, Ekta, got this recipe from her friend. Once I got the ok to post this recipe, I tried making it myself with my own measurement at the end of September. I added salt and eggs to the original recipe. Since the main ingredients are the Macaroni and Potato, I decided to name this dish ‘Matato’. Thanks Ekta for sharing. Read the rest of this entry »

Fried Garlic Shrimp

8 10 2008

Hi folks, it’s been a while since I did my last posting. Andrew was sick with high fever for 6 days and ended up with a runny nose. We were both lack of sleeps and exhausted. Anyway, here is another recipe from my mother-in-law, it is one of Arman’s favorite dish. I tried to use my own measurement and I think it tastes very similar to hers. Very simple to make and don’t take much of your time. Read the rest of this entry »
