Kidney Bean Soup

4 06 2008

Here is another type of soup that my mom used to cook for us. When I was in Indonesia, I made this every once in a while for Andrew and he likes it too. When he was 1 year old, I started giving him the bean minus the skin to avoid him from chocking. Now he can eat it with the skin all together.

Steamed Ginger Garlic Pomfret

28 05 2008

When I was pregnant with Andrew, I often ate this dish. My mom thought me how to cook this very simple dish. Since we moved to the US, I haven’t been cooking any fish at all. Per Rina, my good friend’s request, today, I am posting my first fish dish in the US to add up to my recipes’ collection. Andrew loves this dish so much that he ate almost the whole one side of the fish.

Lomie

8 05 2008

This is a quick dish for noodle fans. The difference of Lomie compare to other noodle is in the soup. It uses a beaten egg, pour into the hot soup. In the old days, I remember my mom used to make this for us and of course she uses her homemade noodle too. The vegetable that goes well with this dish is the Chinese Cabbage called Choy Sum. But since I don’t have it handy today, I substituted it with Scallion. This recipe serves for 3 people and to be eaten while hot.

When we were young, my mom used to make us beef steak with french fries, steam carrot and string bean. I remembered it as one of my and my siblings’ favorite. Of course, if it isn’t my favorite, I will not post it here. :P So I called my mom the other day and she told me briefly what the ingredients are. Now I am going to try making it with my own measurement and eliminate the string bean because I don’t have it in my fridge today. Read the rest of this entry »
