The Best Medicines

30 06 2008

When I am feeling blue, especially lately due to the stress that I’ve been having through out our secret mission, I always count on my 3 best medicines. They are:

1. God - the One who continuously listens to all my problems, the One who gives me good health and guides me through every steps of my life.

2. Arman - the one who continuously supports me with all the most comforting words, who never asks for more than I could give, the one who always try to be the ’superman’ in our family so that we don’t have to suffer.

3. Andrew - the one who always cracks me up with his cuteness and the one who with his own ways try to comfort me when he sees me sad or cry. (Andrew saw me crying these past few days, he quickly grabbed a tissue and wiped all my tears then said mommy, don’t cry)

With these 3 best medicines in the whole world and kind supporting words from other members of the family, relatives and friends, I am sure I will be able to go through everything. Thank you all!

Stress

26 06 2008

Everything has been going quite smoothly, but today I found out that there are things that caused so much frustration for a lot of people (including us) involve in this matter. At the end, it will cost us more money than we have projected, which is a really big issue for us right now.

What a day…I’m not in my best mood and have a terrible headache.

So sorry, Andrew…I hope you wouldn’t notice the pressures that we have right now. Hopefully in the next few days everything will be fine for us.

Vietnamese Spring Roll

22 06 2008

Two of my favorite Vietnamese dishes are the combo pork skin with BBQ beef over rice and the Spring Roll. Today, I managed to make the Vietnamese Spring Roll myself. It is delicious. :)

Mama Bunga’s Macaroni Schotel

18 06 2008

During her pregnancy, my sister, Jq, craves for Macaroni Schotel. She asked me for the recipe, but I didn’t have any. I then remembered how my mother-in-law used to make Macaroni Schotel. The one that I remembered very vividly was the time when Arman’s late grandpa celebrated his birthday. My mother-in-law was so dearly, considering Arman’s late grandpa’s diabetic condition, she made a Macaroni Schotel instead of sweet birthday cake for him. That way, he could make a wish and blow a candle. So a few days ago, I called her and asked her for the recipe. I have modified the original recipe by eliminating slices of ham and corned beef and replacing sweet condensed milk with sugar. This is really good, I can imagine how it would be more tasty with slices of ham and corned beef. Andrew likes this too. :)

Farmer’s Market at the Park

16 06 2008

Above are the pictures taken at our nearby park. Every Saturdays, the park has a farmer’s market and some activities for young kids. The vegetables and fruits sold at this market are fresh and spray free. At the park, they also have 2 playgrounds separately for older and younger kids. Andrew enjoys playing at the playground so much. It is a great place to spend a nice Saturday morning.

Happy 1st Father’s Day, Daddy!

15 06 2008

In Indonesia, we don’t have a Father’s Day, and I don’t actually know why. It seems like the appreciation only goes to the mothers. Hehehehe. Anyway, I am really glad that now we are in the US, we get to celebrate the Father’s Day. So today, is the 1st Father’s Day for Arman.

Below is the wishes that Andrew likes to say to his daddy:

Happy Father’s Day, Daddy!

Thank you for all you have done for me since the day I was born!

Thank you for working so hard to provide for our family!

Thank you for being a loving and protective daddy!

Thank you for being the funniest daddy!

And….once for all, thank you for being the best daddy in the whole world!

I love you so much!

…looking forward to celebrate more father’s day with you!

Love,

Andrew

Sweet and Sour Tilapia

13 06 2008

These past few days, I’ve been craving for sweet and sour fried fish. I then remember how my mother-in-law used to make this dish every once in a while. So when I did my grocery a few days ago, I bought 2 frozen pack of tilapias home. Made the call to her yesterday and she was kind enough to share with me another one of her recipes. Note that I have modified some of the ingredients (she uses thin slices of garlic and mix of water and tapioca starch to thicken the sauce), because I don’t have some of the ingredients.

It finally came

12 06 2008

As you might have noticed, there hasn’t been any new posting in this past one week. I’ve been through so many things that keep my mind very busy and the impact was my hormones seemed to be going like a roller coaster.

Last week, I looked at the calendar and noticed that my monthly guest didn’t make it’s prompt visit this time. I was getting worried and a lot more worried as it passed two weeks from the regular date. Could I be pregnant? Could I be carrying another child in my womb? If so, how would I feel?

Since the beginning of this year, I’ve been wanting to have another baby so much and weirdly I want to have a girl specifically. I can’t stop looking through the baby girl’s clothing whenever I walked by the babies’ store. I even imagined how my life would be with a loving husband, a toddler cute boy and a baby girl. But yet, as much I wanted to have another child, I now deep down inside that this is not the right timing yet. We still have a few other priorities that we like to have set up first and we know that financially we couldn’t afford having another child yet.

I was getting really nervous and decided that I should just get over-the-counter home pregnancy test pack and just get things over with. At least that way, I know what I would be facing. So I did and the result was negative, even though, honestly, I was sort of hoping it would be positive. I still wasn’t relieved and thought that the test pack must have been inaccurate. I waited for a few more days and before I did the second one, it finally came. Pheuwwww….this time, I felt very much relieved. At least now I have one less thing to worry. And hopefully the other things that we are facing right now will be over soon.

Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award

4 06 2008

Surprise….surprise….guess what, today, I was reading my WordPress Dashboard and saw an incoming link from Tess. On her blog, she awarded me the Rockin’ Girl Blogger Award. She wrote a nice paragraph about me and my blog. Thanks a lot for giving me this award, Tess!

The tradition is to pass this award to the most inspiring person and I would like to pass this award to Mbak Astri Nugraha. She is not only a great blogger, but also a super mommy of two adorable daughters who look just like dolls (and another one baby coming soon), a wonderful wife to her loving husband and a creative graphic designer. She puts so much attention to details as you can see on her website. She writes extremely detailed milestones for each of her daughters, documents each layout of her web since the beginning she started the site, shares tremendous yummy recipes from her kitchen and stories about her families, friends are passions. Her website is just so fun to read. You are rockin’, girl!
