Restaurant Review: Todai

On May 4, 2008, we went to Todai to celebrate Arman’s birthday. We went to the one at Beverly Center. When we got there, around noon, the restaurant was about half full. I told the waitress that today is Arman’s birthday, and she told me that by showing a valid picture ID, Arman can get a voucher that would entitled him for a free lunch good for future visit. In addition, he will also get a small birthday cake.
So we started our lunch, picking some items from cold bar, sushi bar, hot bar and dessert section. The cold section offers variety of salads, cocktail shrimp, and a lot more of other choices. There were like 40 kinds of sushi at the sushi bar starting from the california sushi with masago, futomaki, philadelphia, smoke salmon sushi, unago and many more. The hot bar has anything from baked green mussels, mix vegetable and shrimp tempura, calamari, teriyaki chicken, udon noodle, steamed fish to different meat of teppan yaki. I got Andrew a bowl a udon noodle and added some crispy tempura on top of it. He actually finished the whole bowl. He also ate 1 pieces of cookie, some grapes and edamame.
The cold food are fresh including the raw meat on the sushi. I think both Arman and I each ate nearly 15 pieces of Salmon Sashimi. The strawberry birthday cake was really good too. We paid a total of $48 including tax and tips. The lunch price for the weekend is $18.95 per person (not including drinks). Andrew was consider under 3 Feet, so he didn’t have to pay. They have lots of restaurants in all over US, in Hongkong and expanding to Asia soon this year (including Jakarta - Indonesia).
Overall, we were very satisfied, with the reasonable price, they certainly offer many varieties. We surely will come back again.
Akhirnya, ke Todai juga :D…. Eh bener ya mau buka di Jakarta ? Laku ngga ya Esther ? Kalau harganya lebih mahal daripada di sana sih, rada mahal ya… (milih makan di Satoo atau Syailendra). Tapi kalo lebih murah… hmmmm…. jadi laperrrr….
@ Leony: Iya tuh akhirnya kita ke Todai, habis Arman ampe mau ngiler liat websitenya. Hahahaha. Kalo diliat di bagian locationnya, dia tulis tahun 2008 mau buka di Malaysia ama Indonesia tuh. Harusnya sih lebih murah dari harga2 hotel yah, kalo ngga mana mungkin laku. Gua doain lebih murah deh, biar elu bisa merasakan Todai lagi. Hehehehe.

15 pieces salmon sushi? hihi, hebat juga.. Kalau kesini, kudu cobain yang tabehoudai (all you can eat)..
Hoaaa beneran nih mo buka juga di Indo… Waaah, mudah2an pas abis lahiran deeh… Udah ngiler ama sashiminya… hiks

@ Shinta: Iya tuh kalo diliat di websitenya sih dia ada tulis Jakarta Indonesia (2008), trus ada keterangannya akan dibuka. Gitu loh. Jalan berapa bulan sekarang, Shin? Gua baru kemarin pertama kalinya nyoba makan Salmon Sashimi, emang ternyata enak yah.

@ Shinta: Wah cepet yah, Shin! Tinggal bentar lagi dong. Oh yah suka baca blog ade gua juga toh. Don’t worry about polip, biasanya katanya semakin kandungan gede or pas lahiran kan bisa ilang. Gua doain everything goes well yah. Iya ternyata makan sashimi itu ngga bisa dikit, bikin orang ketagihan aja.
Iya obgyn-nya juga bilang gitu, ntar juga bisa copot pas lahiran sih kalo memang itu polip biasa (bukan yang disebabkan virus)… Gw sempet panik berapa kali flek2… tapi sekarang dah biasa, yang penting bukan dari rahimnya… tapi plasenta gw agak dibawah nih, mudah2an ga nutup jalan lahir… Thanks ya
