Restaurant Review: Dumpling Inn

11 03 2008

Still from our San Diego trip, this time we asked a friend who lives in San Diego for her restaurant’s recommendation. One of many that she recommended was the Dumpling Inn. At first, we didn’t intend to go to this restaurant, just because it wasn’t nearby the hotel that we stayed at. After our long day in the San Diego Zoo, we thought that we should just tried nearby restaurant.

My friend, Heru, told me to try Phil’s BBQ, but we failed to do so, because the line was so long and we were starving. So we thought, we better hurry up and go to Dumpling Inn instead. After a 15 minutes drive, we got to Dumpling Inn, there was a line in front of the restaurant but it wasn’t as long as Phil’s. I put my name down and waited for 40 minutes. Yup, I never waited this long for a restaurant, but everything that people ordered in the restaurant looked so good, that we decided to stay.

The restaurant is really small. Close by the restaurant there is a Korean Market. We finally got our seats 20 minutes before the restaurant closed. We were very hungry and ordered a lot of food. Unfortunately, I failed to write down the price for each one of them. We asked for 2 orders of Xiao Lung Bao (Steam Pork Bun), 1 bowl of Lo Mien Noodle with 4 Ingredients (it comes with shrimp, pork, beef and chicken meat), 1 order of Jelly Fish and 1 order of Salt and Pepper Fried Calamari.

Everything was delicious. We love the Xiao Lung Bao very much that Arman and I each finished 10 pieces. :P The Calamari was the only order that we didn’t really like. I think the prices are $6.75 for the Xiao Lung Bao, $8.95 for the noodle and $8.95 for the calamari. Note that this is just an estimated prices.

We spent a total of $52 including tips and tax. We could actually pay less than that if we didn’t order the calamari. :p The waitresses weren’t nice, but as some people said in the reviews, we came for the food anyway. :P

Will definitely come back if we ever come to San Diego again. Thanks a lot for your recommendation, San. It was worth the wait. :)

Thanks for the recommendation, Mel. We tried the one in Indo but didn’t think that it was as good as the one in Taiwan or Singapore. I think Taiwan one has the best taste. Mau nyoba tapi jauh, hehehehe. Tapi kalo craving udah menggebu2 biasanya sih jauh2 juga dijabanin. :) Iya kan, Man?

Hehehe… Katanya sih yang disini mirip2 ama yang di Taiwan, rame banget biasanya, cuman sekarang udah ada gedung baru dibelakangnya (lumayan cozy sih keliatannya dari luar).

Hahahaha, Ary….Ary….Ayo buruan kemari. Kita dulu kalo ke Sushi Tei suka makan Wakame Salad yang pake Sushi Tei dressing. Biasanya sih gua suka banget pake dressingnya semua, karena emang penggemar asem2. Trus Arman biasa doyan makan Salmon Sashimi. Gyu Enoki (Kalo doyan daging sapi and jamur enoki), Jumbo Dragon Roll, Crispy Roll and Chuka Wakame (Kalo doyan Rumput Laut), Chuka Kurage (Kalo doyan Ubur2), Agedashi Tofu and Cawan Mushi nya enak-enak tuh. Aduh jadi pengen deh……………………………..:(
