Restaurant Review: Albert’s Restaurant - San Diego Zoo
11 03 2008As some of you might have already knew, this year, we celebrated our anniversary in San Diego. We were trying to keep our tradition to spend our getaways in any cities starting with the letter ‘B’ (Honeymoon in Bangkok, 1st Anniversary in Bogor and 2nd Anniversary in Bandung). But we weren’t able to find nearby city that starts with ‘B’. So we thought, ok, let’s just go to San Diego which is like 2 hours driving. As part of our getaway, we decided to take Andrew to the San Diego Zoo. We left Santa Monica around 8.20AM and got there at 10.30AM. After a 45 minutes bus tour at the San Diego Zoo, we went straight to the restaurant to satisfy our starving tummy.
From reading all the restaurants review in the Zoo, we picked Albert’s Restaurant.
It is a fine dining restaurant, where at the outside seats surrounded with the view of the zoo trails and a small waterfall. They have kids menu that comes with choice of milk or soda. We ordered Jambalaya Pasta ($17) for me, Fisherman Stew ($21) for Arman and Azizi’s Dog ($7.45) for Andrew. While waiting for our orders, we were given some breads. The bread is really good, soft and newly baked.
I personally think the Jambalaya (a pasta cooked with a shrimp and sausages in a creamy sauce) was too creamy and not salty enough. But Arman thought it was good. The Fisherman Stew (a seafood stew contains of small scallops, jumbo shrimps, chunky fish meat and lobster) was great. They used a jumbo size shrimp in both the Jambalaya and the Fisherman Stew and the size of both entrees are huge. The Azizi’s Dog has a great crunchy french fries, but the hotdog itself was just ok. We spent a total of $55 including tips and tax.
A good restaurant with a good view for a good event to celebrate.

So you guys finally decided on “Ban Diego” hahahahahahahah
Oh, that’s really funny of you, my little sister.
sebenernya kita bisa ke beverly hills sih. tapi itu mah udah biasa ya… cieeeeeee, sooooooooookkkkkkkkkk… hihihihihi
i’m planning to go to san diego zoo after naomi getting a bit bigger, thanks for food references. This one looks so yummy and appetizing for little kids.
Yes, San Diego Zoo was really worth it. And the restaurant was nice too. For sure you should also try Dumpling Inn. Try to come before 6pm to avoid the line.
